What does July 4th Mean?

Before the American Revolution, people living in America were still ’subjects.’ The 13 American colonies in which they lived were still considered a part of the British Empire, ruled by King George III, thousands of miles away.

The ‘Committee of Five,’ including Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, wrote the Declaration of Independence to ‘declare’:

- Americans have a right to revolution

- Everyone should have a right to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” - and if a government gets in the way of such a right - it is necessary to change that government, or declare independence from it.

On July 4th, Independence Day, we celebrate these fundamental rights.

Other ideas to spread the word:

Email people who have liberty websites. Tell them about the moneybomb and ask them to include one of the banners above!

Make up a flyer or business card to pass out leading up to and on the fourth of July. Maybe you can tell people there is finally a conservative voice against the war, a representative of the youth movement for liberty that has become so popular in the last few years.  Be creative!

Post links and descriptions of what we’re doing around the Internet. Find places where folks are discussing relevant subjects on your favorite forum, in comments, or elsewhere!

Download a youtube video and put it on your phone or mobile device. Show people at the coffeeshop and ask them to donate a few bucks on Independence Day!
